Founded in 1906—

The LSM is the official state-supported museum of Louisiana history and culture that encompasses a statewide network of National Historic Landmarks and architecturally significant buildings in five Louisiana cities that house nearly half a million artifacts. Interested in learning more? Visit their website here.

Funding and programmatic support is focused primarily on Louisiana’s most Historic crown jewel, The Cabildo, and our newest star, The New Orleans Jazz Museum, at the Old U.S. Mint—Where Jazz is celebrated in the city it was born!

Other Louisiana State Museum Properties TheThe Presbytère | Madame John’s Legacy | 1850 House | Collections & Archives | Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum | Capitol Park Museum | Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum | E.D. White Historic Site

On behalf of the LSM, we pursue and accept all donations & Grants, and produce engaging programming to appeal to our members, a community of Louisiana history and cultural enthusiasts.

While the LMF provides grants administration and financial services for the entire State Museum system, fundraising, promotional and educational activities are primarily focused on the Museum’s five core New Orleans properties, collections and archives housed in national historic landmarks.
